Client Challenge
Development and research needed for lighting products requires
many scientific measurements. These measurements are obtained
through a series of tests. These tests require actual product
samples and are spread out over time and location. The main
concern was the accountability, getting the results back for
an individual test sampling proved a tedious task. Often time
results came back inconsistently and it was up to the requesting
engineer to compile the results, there was no central means
by which to request and post results.
Project Solution
The challenge was met by creating an Access based interface
to manage the complex testing process through and highly functional
electronic interface. Data collected in older legacy systems
was backfilled into this new system so engineers could easily
query this data for historic perspective.
For the first time product engineers can share information
through a managed system. Test requests and results, which
sometime took months to compile, are now turning around
in days.
The new systems efficiency had immediate ROI in the enormous
amount of time saved in managing test data.
