The story behind the best enewsletter
managment system:
In the late summer 2000, our internal training identified a need
to promote and maintain course offerings to new and existing clients.
A tool was suggested that could give any team member in the organization
the ability to create a news article and deliver it to a group of
interested clients. With this in mind, our developers set forth
to create an application that could centralize communications, provide
self administration, archiving, group management and send mass e-mails
to subscribers. This first version of our enewsletter product was
deployed as a web enabled application on our Intranet and allowed
just about anyone on our staff to create and send enewsletter's
without having to know code and without having to manage user email
lists.
Soon after several publications of our newsletters, we began to
receive questions regarding how it worked and its availability for
use. One of our first interested clients, Miles Farmers Market,
was intrigued with the idea of sending customers coupons and weekly
notices of new products and specials. Wanting to accommodate their
need, we made several coding revisions and other graphical enhancements
to make the product more user friendly. Taking our original concept,
we streamlined interface, added a rich text formatting tool, created
a virtual server environment for ease of deployment and the second
generation of the enewsletter system was released. In addition,
we began to research competing products and created a pricing matrix,
a hosting service plan, and began to offer this as an add-on service
to our clients.
After several months of successful rollouts and much client feedback,
we focused on developing an upgrade. Armed with what learned from
our clients and the previous versions, we started from the ground
up and developed a name and the idea of branding this as a service,
then we researched the best way to send e-mail without triggering
SPAM filters. Included within the upgrade was an administration
facelift and a more intuitive UI design. To support the sales of
the product, we created a web site dedicated to the promotion of
the service and began to advertise it's capabilities. In April of
2003, the new eNP3 was unleashed.
